Reuben Joseph Daurie (Dorey)
The son of John Joseph and Eunice Dorey

DIED: August 1, 1926.
Married: Pearl Brecken Sawler on July 26, 1905 in Chester NS.
Born in Clearland NS.
He and Pearl lived in Western Shore and had 13 children
His mother died when he was a youngster and he went to live with his Maternal Grandparents,
George and Emma Sawler in Western Shore, NS.
Recollections of daughter Faye (Daurie) Gardiner Dec. 29, 1979:
- He worked as a Cooper in Sawlers Cooperage, Western Shore, NS.
- He was a Fisherman, owned his own boat and fished the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.
- He crated blueberries, which were picked by family and hauled them by wagon to the
railroad station.
- He and Pearl grew all the vegetables needed for their family.
- He made Moonshine for his own use.
- He didn't serve in WW1.
- He had a stroke in a row boat going to Chester with wife, Pearl and sons Ray and Murray,
they brought him home where he lived from Friday to Sunday.
- A Minister from St. Marks Church, Martins River probably performed the funeral,
it was a warm sunny day with a room full of flowers.
- He is buried in Martins Point Cemetery.
A notation in Willa Kaizer's book shows Reuben Dorey - Throater on Schooner "Elva M" 1898 - left home April 18, 1898 and arrived back at Martin's Point on June 13, 1898.
His Daughter Alice remembers he spoke some French.
